Terms of Service
Effective October 19, 2026
1. Agreement
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Ghostkeys ("we", "us") covering your use of Ghostkeys: the website, the Chrome extension, the desktop app and any related services (together, the "Service"). By creating an account, buying a plan or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.
2. What the Service does
Ghostkeys types text you provide into text fields and programs on your device, simulating human typing (speed ranges, typos, pauses, formatting). Depending on your plan it can also rewrite text with AI, swap words for synonyms, and type into any program through the desktop app. Features differ by plan as described on the pricing page and may change over time.
3. Eligibility and accounts
- You must be at least 13 years old. If you are under 18 (or the age of majority where you live), you need a parent or guardian's permission, and they agree to these Terms for you.
- Give us an accurate email address and keep your password secure. You are responsible for everything that happens under your account.
- Your account is for you alone. Don't share, sell or transfer it.
- Tell us at support@ghostkeys.org if you think someone else has accessed your account.
4. Plans, billing and renewal
- Subscriptions are billed weekly, monthly or yearly, in advance, and renew automatically at the end of each period until you cancel.
- Cancelling: you can cancel at any time from your account page. You keep access until the end of the period you've already paid for, and you won't be charged again.
- Lifetime is a single payment for Max-tier access for as long as we operate the Service. It isn't transferable.
- Payments are processed by Stripe. Prices are in US dollars and may not include taxes, which you are responsible for where they apply.
- We may change prices. A change to a subscription takes effect at your next renewal after we've told you about it, and you can cancel before then.
- If a payment fails, we may suspend paid features until it's resolved.
5. Token allowances
Paid plans include a weekly token allowance. Your week starts on the day and time you created your account. Unused tokens don't roll over, and when the allowance is used up, the features that spend tokens stop until the next week starts. We decide how tokens are counted and may adjust allowances; we'll tell you before reducing the allowance of a plan you've already paid for.
6. Refunds
Payments are non-refundable, except where the law requires otherwise. We may issue a refund at our discretion, for example after a billing error. To ask, email support@ghostkeys.org.
7. Acceptable use
You are responsible for the text you type with the Service and for where you type it. In particular, you agree not to:
- use the Service in a way that breaks a law, or the rules of a school, exam, employer, platform or contract that applies to you, including rules about academic integrity, authorship or the use of automation and AI;
- use it to send spam, impersonate others, commit fraud, or harass anyone;
- type content you don't have the right to use, or that infringes someone else's rights;
- get around token allowances, plan limits or sign-in checks, or share one account between several people;
- copy, resell, reverse engineer or redistribute the Service, except where the law allows it despite this restriction;
- interfere with or overload our servers, or access them other than through the interfaces we provide.
8. Your content and AI output
You keep all rights to the text you give the Service and the text it produces for you. We don't keep the text you type or send to the AI features; see the Privacy Policy for how it moves between your device, our server and third parties.
AI rewrites and synonym swaps are generated automatically and may be wrong, change your meaning, or read awkwardly. Review the output before you rely on it or submit it anywhere. You are responsible for what you choose to use.
9. Third-party services
Parts of the Service rely on others: Stripe for payments, Google's Gemini API for AI features, Datamuse for synonyms, and the Chrome Web Store for distributing the extension. Your use of those parts is also subject to those providers' terms. We aren't responsible for third-party services or their availability.
10. Our software
We own the Service, including its software, design and branding. While you follow these Terms, we give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the extension and desktop app for the plan you have. Updates may be installed automatically.
11. Suspension and termination
You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or close your account if you break these Terms, if your use creates risk or legal exposure for us or others, or if we stop offering the Service. If we close your account without cause, or discontinue the Service, we'll refund the unused part of any prepaid subscription. Sections 6 through 15 survive termination.
12. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We don't promise the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free, will work with every website or program, or that text typed with it will be indistinguishable from human typing or go undetected by any person, platform, or detection tool.
13. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, grades, employment or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim and US$50. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not fully apply to you.
14. Indemnity
You agree to defend and compensate us for claims, losses and costs (including reasonable legal fees) brought by third parties that arise from your content, your use of the Service, or your breach of these Terms.
15. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of [STATE], United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Before filing a claim, please email us so we can try to resolve it informally. Nothing here takes away rights you have under consumer protection laws where you live.
16. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. If a change is material, we'll tell you by email or on the site before it takes effect. Continuing to use the Service after that means you accept the updated Terms.
